Global Investors Pour Record Funds Into U.S. Stocks on AI Optimism
Foreign investors continued to increase their exposure to U.S. equities, driven by confidence in the country’s artificial intelligence sector and large technology companies. According to U.S. Treasury data, overseas private investors purchased $120.8 billion worth of U.S. stocks in May, marking the second-largest monthly inflow on record.
The strong inflows contrast with significant capital outflows from AI-heavy markets such as South Korea and Taiwan, where investors have reduced exposure amid heightened volatility in semiconductor stocks. Despite recent market swings, analysts say global demand for U.S. technology shares remains strong as investors continue to bet on long-term AI growth.
Market participants will closely watch upcoming corporate earnings and economic data to determine whether the momentum behind the AI-driven rally can continue through the second half of 2026.
